This summer Horses Unlimited 4-H Club and the idea for pet adoption baskets won them the Governor's Ag Excellence Award for outstanding community service projects. Along with the trip to Lincoln & meeting Governor Heineman, they also received $500, sponsored by NIFA (NE. Investment Finance Authority to help fund the project, The club members planned the budget, choose the dog gift items and toys from a catalog and placed the order. After receiving the items, club members met and assembled 20 baskets. They delivered the adoption gift baskets to the Holt Co. Humane Society where the members presented the baskets to Michael, HCHS representative. The baskets will be given to new pet parents of the HCHS dogs. |
