Do animals really have feelings? Scientists have debated the issue for decades and various research studies have recently attempted to find an answer. Yet, all too often an emotion expressed by a dog or cat is dismissed as and "instinct" or just a "conditioned response". Well, Those of us who share our lives with animals don't need scientific research to confirm what we already know: Animals do indeed have feelings, and those feelings are as profound as any we humans have. Who hasn't witnessed the excitement of a beloved pet when we return home after a day at work or comforted a grieving pet when its animal companion died?
