More Pet Care and Advice
Our homes can contain a variety of very harmful
compounds. Below is a list, not necessarily complete, but
some of the most common problems.

Foods to Avoid
* Onions or onion powder
* Chocolate (baker's, milk, dark, semi-sweet)
* Alcoholic drinks
* Yeast dough
* Coffee (grounds, beans, expresso)
* Tea
* Salt
* Macadamia nuts
* Tomato and Potato leaves and stems
* Rhubarb
* Avocados (toxic to birds, mice, rabbits, horses, cattle)
* Moldy foods

Medications
Because they are so much smaller than we are, our pets
need to be kept away from all medications. Even over the
counter drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and cold
medications. Pain killers and other prescription drugs can
be lethal to animals even in small doses. Always consult
your vetterinarian.

Household Items
Common household items such as mothballs, potpourri
oils, coffee grounds, homemade play dough, fabric softner
sheets, dishwashing detergent, and batteries can also be
killers to our pets.
Signs of Animal Cruelty
If you suspect animal cruelty, please call
your local law enforcement agency. In
the state of Nebraska, the society has
absolutely no legal authority.

animals body

cats
* Cowering in fear or acting aggressively
(especially when approached by the
owner)
* Pets left in parked cars during hot
weather
* Owners yelling or threatening physical
hare to animals.
