FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 3, 2009 HOLT COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY The directors and officers of the Holt County Humane Society held a special meeting on July 3, 2009 at 7 PM at the society office. It was voted on and ratified that the HCHS will no longer accept pit bull or pit bull mixed dogs into the shelter. The HCHS has accepted a small number of these dogs and has unfortunately found it impossible to re-home this particular breed. Also, it was decided that asking its volunteers to care for these animals was simply not appropriate and that the safety of our volunteers and visitors are of the utmost concern. The new policy passed unanimously by all those present. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any of the board members or officers.
